At this point I am trying to make her happy and of course do one of the cardinal sins by being an enabler and buying her the headset. So this goes on for a few months and then she wants to get a headset with voice so she can speak with her friends within Second Life. I bitch about the game and what it’s doing to the family but she doesn’t seem to care. She has become a completely different person yet she doesn’t see that in herself. At this point I pretty much hate what Second Life has done to her.
We hardly ever see her and if we try to it’s like we are intruding on her time. So this meant she was up all night and would sleep during the day when the kids were at school.Īfter awhile it’s like living with a stranger. She met a few people in Second Life who were in Europe (we are in the States on the west coast) and ended up changing her sleeping schedule to match their sleeping schedule. but now our sex life was even worse because she never had time for me. Sex life at this point wasn’t all that often anyways after 12 years together and 3 kids along with my work schedule. So eventually it would get so bad that we might spend maybe 30 minutes to an hour together if I was lucky. I was amazed to find so many other people out there effected the same way I am.Īnyways back to my story. I have since read about a lot of other people who have had their marriage destroyed the same way and describe the same type of behavior. Eventually over time she would spend more and more time in Second Life and less time doing anything else.

My wife is a stay at home mom (we have 3 sons) who has a lot of free time and this was one way she would spend her time. Who doesn’t enjoy seeing their significant other finding joy in something that is special to them. Being able to be creative and make things really made her happy which in turn made me happy.
WHAT IS SECOND LIFE GAME HOW TO
My wife is a very creative person and once she started to learn how to create things in Second Life she really got into the game (hate to call it game, because it’s not really a game). She would do clothes shopping, dancing and other innocent things. She was intrigued and wanted to give it a go. My wife initially found out about Second Life when it was featured on the Today show one morning.
I believed at the time that our marriage was salvageable but after what has happened recently I see no solutions or ways to fix the marriage that was destroyed from the addiction. I have no issues in admitting that my marriage was not the greatest in the world (very few are), but it was also far from being the worst. I suppose I should let you know I don’t solely blame Second Life for destroying my marriage but I do feel that the addiction and the things that resulted from Second Life did. As the blog title says this blog is about how my marriage was destroyed by Second Life addiction.įor those of you who do not know what Second Life is, it’s an online simulation game where people can pretty much live out their fantasy life.
